S500 advice and opinions
 

A good friend is offering me to buy his W140 1993 S500 LWB. The car has 52,000 miles and is in very good shape. It has almost every option possible including independent rear electric bucket seats with orthopedic backrests, rear armrest-accessed fridge, and independent rear A/C.

Being the owner of an S320 and a great fan of the W140, I know of the problems inherent to the chassis, but I am not to familiar with big V-8 Mercedes-Benz engines.

What should I look for (engine-related)? What are the things that most often give trouble? Anything in particular that I should be really concerned about? I would greatly appreciate any input.

The only thing I have seen alot of is the timing chain tensioner failure at 80-90k miles.
