Is my vacuum door lock pump interchangeable with different models?

The vacuum pump that operates my power door locks is busted, because of the trunk leaking water from rain. However, I'm pretty sure I've taken care of the leak, so I want to get another vacuum pump to replace my busted one. The model I have is 000 800 03 48, and it has 1 three-prong connection and 1 air tube connection. If I find another pump with these attributes but with a different model number and shape, can I still plug it in and have it work correctly? If so, could you give me the model numbers that can be interchanged with my model? Thanks.

No respnses, so at least I'll move you to the top.
I did do a quick cross-check at an internet supplier to see if your '84 had the same number on the vacuum pump as later models. No luck.
It seems the '86 & later S-class and E-class use the same pump, and it's available. But they show no listing for 85 & earlier S-class pumps.
One would think that it's just a pump, and could be wired and bolted in, and made to work. But, after installing a remote lock system in my '91, I realized the system is a bit more complex. The later model pumps both directions - vacuum and pressure - and is connected to the system with a 6-wire harness. That's about all I can remember about it.

I know the 124 pump changed mid-'87, and the orthopedic seats require a different pump.

Guys, they are different. You need to take a look at the electrical connections. Some pumps have one and some have two and the type of connection is different. I have an 81 300SD with an 04 vac pump. Although I specified an 04 (this is the middle number) pump, SVMBZ@aol.com (a good company to source for used parts) sent me an 03 and it had two electrical connections. Would not work. I sent it back and they sent me an 05  but fortunately -although it was not the exact same size or shape as my original pump - the elec plug worked and the vac hose fit. So it worked.

My recc is to send a picture of your pump to the supplier and make it known how many electrical connections it has.
