How to install / reinstall rear seat bench in 16?

How does one install or reinstall the rear seat bench on the 16V? The standard 201 is relatively simple. However, the rear seat belt locks on the 16V are affixed to metal stalks. I can't figure out how to get the bench and the seat belt lock stalks to line up properly such that the bench will fit as it should. Thanks for any assistance.

Angle the seat bottom about 45 degrees relative to the chassis. There are cutouts for the seatbelt stalks. Lower the seat bottom and adjust so that the "towers" line up with the holes, then press down to lock

Gosh, were it so easy on my car . . . That was the approach I attempted, which makes sense and looks right but is not working for me. I can't get the seatbelt stalks into the holes in the bench. The metal bottom of the bench gets caught on the stalks; the stalks get pushed under the bench or over to a side. The formed bolsters of the backest appear to prevent one from getting the rear of the bench back far enough such that the stalks will come neatly through the holes you mention. Thank you very much for your advice.
