98' E320 OverVoltageRelay - ???
My check engine light came on, so I disconnected the battery cable. Now the check engine light is off, but the ABS and BAS/ASR
come on. I figure it got to be the OVR. I looked almost everywhere and couldn't find it. Does anyone know where it is? or am I looking at the right direction to reset the ABS and BAS/ASR lights? THanks |

Your 98 E320 doesn't have the Overvolt Relay Problem. But the indication that your BAS/ASR and ABS lights are on make me think that you have a voltage problem. And you were messing with the battery, but the cables are on properly now?! I am not sure... but be sure and check all of the fuses, even replace the fuses for ASR/BAS & ABS because there could be (doubtful on late model though..) a hairline crack.
But you can check your voltage via your climate control! But damn, it's been awhile.... not sure I remember exactly how on a 98 W210. Here's a try: 1. Start Engine. 2. Set climate control to 72 (both sides) and press AUTO. 3. Then press and hold REST (for roughly 5 seconds) until a different menu appears. One side of the display will read the menu number (1-50 or so, inconsistent though). 4. Press Auto (left or right; respectively, up or down), until you get to the voltage meter. But I can't recall which number the voltage is? If you do fine a menu that appears to have 12.9 to 13.1 or so (or near that), then you have probably found it. I'm sorry I don't remember. But I printed out the codes for a friend of mine who has a 99 E430, it should be the same. I will get the VOLTAGE number tomorrow for you though. But atleast this is a start (I think the voltage reading is something like 20 or 24 or something?) Good luck and if you have any questions, please ask! ((My point is, this way we can try and see if you're having a voltage problem, those indicator lights make me think that those systems aren't getting enough voltage!))
