Which of the 3 alarm harnesses to disconnect? Pic included
 

This alarm is installed in my 87 300DT. Alarm part # is 126 820 008 26

Ok folks, did the obligatory searches and people have generally said "just disable the alarm by unplugging it". I'm a bit leery of pulling anything that has 3 harnesses going into it. My concern of course is pulling something that is critical to the operation of the vehicle.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of which ones to pull? i've labeled them all, 1 through 3:

take of 2 and 3 or there is a white fuse in the middle of the fuse box... I disconnected this from my 420 SEL and I noticed that you have you might have to remove fuse then pull the alarm module out then reinstall fuse... some combination of both. My alarm wouldn't shut up and I removed 2 and 3.

I believe just 2 and 3. You probably already know that the red one is for SRS, do not mess with it.

Yeah, just unplug the two leads going into the Becker box. That will totally kill the alarm with no side effects.

I am in the process of troubleshooting my alarm, and may very well have a leftover alarm module when done. Hit me up if you actually WANT a working alarm.

panzer: thanks but no thanks. i really do not want an alarm anymore to worry about. i was driving one day and the alarm triggered. i am surprised no one pulled over.

Hahahah - Same thing happened to me last month. It just went berzerk and wouldn't shut off no matter what I did. Since I didn't have my 10mm wrench at the time the only way to shut it up was to disconnect the battery.

Then I had to drive it home, honking the whole way. Very frustrating.

oh, you attempted the right way to do it! i grabbed the horn wires and yanked them off in utter embarassment and frustration. i am sure someone saw me and concluded that asian drivers truly are crazy---even when parked!

I would have just yanked the horn wires, but at least on my car it is a SEPERATE horn from the one you use on bad drivers. And, it is mounted under the windshield wiper cowling - totally inaccessible in the field....

Will the disconnection of the Becker box also disable the immobilizer that cuts off the ignition?

Does your car have the immobilizer? Posting year and model will help, the OP does not.

Yep 2 and 3. I just replaced my Bekker alarm system with one from the junkyard. First time after 3 years that my alarm is finally working!

If the alarm went off while you were driving, one of the relays most likely failed inside. Do what I did and find the nearest junkyard and steal one from any W124...they are all compatible as far as I know. Cost me $4.99 :)

Yes, the car has an immobilizer.

The left side door lock has been demolished by a burglar. After that the car is impossible to start. The ignition fires once at every start attempt, but after that single spark it shuts down. The battery is good and the starter turns the engine just as it should.

Addition: The car is a W124 Coupe from -91

I own a 1991 300E 4Matic that is having alarm issues. The alarm goes off for seemingly no reason. I would like to disconnect the alarm. The area underneath the passenger footrest looks exactly the same as the picture attached to the first message.

In order to disconnect the alarm, do I need to first disconnect the battery? Also, as far as I understand from the above postings, I just unplug #2 and #3 referenced in the above picture, and the alarm is disarmed, correct?
