Euro 190E ignition wires cap rotor
I have a 1988 German model 190e bought in Munich with the 2 liter (1996cc) engine, chassis is w201.024 and engine is m102.962
Recently I brought it in to the dealer here in Boston for it's 150,000 kilometer servicing and they informed me that plugs/wires/etc are part of it. They also quoted a price upwards of $600 for this stuff at which point I told them I'd handle those particular items myself. I sourced the original number non-resistor Bosch "Super" (copper) plugs from a U.K. ebayer for a little over a buck each. Now I need the original wires, cap and rotor for the car. Does the rest-of-world 2.0 190e take the same stuff as the U.S. 2.3 190e? Seems like most suppliers available to me only support that engine and chassis config. I checked out "Kingsborne" and they had a few sets, would these be appropriate? Also tried Beru.com for original stuff at http://www.beru.com/english/produkte/produktfinder.php?hersteller=MERCE&modell=190+(W201)&typ=E+2.0+(201.024)&ktypnr=319&action=step04 and they had a few different cables/caps/rotors available for my specific chassis/engine but there are some notes about a catalytic converter, which my car DOES in fact have. Perhaps Beruparts.com can get me those? Is all of this necessary? While I tend to be an originality freak, I basically just want the ignition to continue to function and last for servicing as intended by Mercedes without paying those re-donk-ulous prices.
