Idle questio on 190E -16 Valve

I looked at some of the other threads and have not had any luck. I am hoping some fresh minds might be able to help.

When I take the car out of gear and put it in park (auto trans in this car) the engine revs up to about 2k for a few seconds and then settles down too about 1,200 (still too high). In gear it idles fine at about 600-700 or so. I am hoping that what ever is wrong will also fix the high idle as well as the racing idle.

Is there something connected to the trans that controls the idle? I have replaced the idle control valve, the hoses going from the valve that go to te valve cover, and the one going under the IP. The coolant temp sensor is new and kicks the primary fan on at 100C.

Any ideas?

Thanks

David

After owning 5 of those beasts... the most common fault is the air flow position sensor.

Available only with the air flow housing.

Where/what is that? Is it the MAF thing under the air filter that cost 15 billion dollars to replace?

IF that turns out to be the problem?? 90% of the time it is..

You will need MB part numbers 000-074-23-14 ($730), 103-141-00-90, & 102-070-01-74.

I would first check for vacuum leaks.
