CMiller, the car looks very clean, but I think I could find a 420 or 560SEL in the same condition for that price. (Maybe even with less mileage)

Those fancy indoor showrooms can really detail a car up nicely. I prefer to find a diamond in the rough, you tend to get a better deal, but it does take much more time.

Car Search Update

Thanks to all for the feedback. I found a very clean 1986 300E that was reasonably priced. The W124 fits a little easier in my garage and suits my driving needs for the time being.

Now my learning curve starts at zero once again as I have to learn all about the 3.0 gas engine. Slight oil seepage at the timing chain cover. Air conditioning was converted two years ago. Pulled the lines between the valve cover and the airfilter, looks like there is no blow-by. Trans shifts smoothly, no flaring.

Feels good to be back on the road again.
