intermittent gauges

My gauges (water temp., fuel, speed, & tach.) have a tendency not to come on right away after starting. When its cold it could take 20-30 mins. They never go off again while its still running, but if I shut it off & start it back up, it couls start all over. This doesn't seem to effect the running of the car. Any ideas?

Thanks, Randy

Earthing. - Pull the instrument cluster and check the earth on the cluster and the common earthpoints behind it.

It's the first time I've seen the term "earth" used for "ground" :)
You must speak French, correct? That would be a direct translation from "terre" in French ;)

"It's the first time I've seen the term "earth" used for "ground"......"

Yup, that's a British thing. It reminds us of what ground really refers to and points out that cars don't really have a ground. Cars and other isolated circuits have what should be referred to as a common connection and not a true ground. The terms have been used somewhat interchangeably, but they aren't truly synonymous.
