Airbag deployment for no reason 05 smart
 

while driving 05 smart left airbag deployed for no reason, vehicle shut down. eventually restarted ????????????????????????????????????????
anybody ever heard of this before:mad:

If it's an '05 SMART, it's not a USA version and may be completely different from latter.

yes correct, I am from Canada. This smart is a diesel 3 cyl. does not have the mistsu gas engine. The srs, location of impact sensors, the crash sensor etc. are the same. same platform since released in Canada in o5. the only difference from then til now is gas vs. diesel

(I am waiting for dealer to respond with diagnoses. Was wondering if anyone has heard of this before with Smart. I havn't.

I don't have any experience with Smart cars, but over the years I've seen several MB's in my shop where the airbag(s) and/or ETR's deployed for no apparent reason. In every case, we found some form of underbody damage. I've seen subframe damage, floor-pan damage, and lower radiator support damage cause SRS deployment. Since the airbags/ETR's deploy almost instantly upon impact, the driver was never aware they hit anything. I'm not saying that an unintended deployment can't happen, I'm just saying that I've never seen it. I'm betting that the dealer will find this to be the reason in your case. Let us know what they find.
