Help - Overfilled Trans

86 300e auto trans - I have overfilled the trans. The dip stick shows approx 3/4" above the top mark. Can I drive the car, will I damage the trans?

I don't know much about that, but I would not drive it. Valve operation is dependent on the fluid, and I would guess that the least that would happen would be unpredictable operation.

If you have such a wrench, I would go under the car and drain the excess...Wouldn't take the plug all the way out...just enough to let some trickle down the case and close it immediately. Then top off if you you drained too much.

Can you et your hands on a Topsider? You could suction out the excess fluid pretty simply, through the fill tube.

Black and Decker makes a manually operated rotary hand pump called "The Rabbit" that is sold in many hardware stores. It comes with a long hose that will nicely fit the MBZ transmission fill tube. It has been absolutely invaluable to me over the years for this and similar applications, and well worth the under $20.00 price.
