300D Driveshaft Sleeve Nuts
I'm getting ready to replace the center bearing on the driveshaft of my 81' 300D. Does anyone know what size wrenches I need to loosen the driveshaft sleeve nut (clamping nut)? I'd like to buy or rent the proper wrenches before crawling under to do the job. Thanks!

NY,
I can't tell you the exact socket but I did remove my driveshaft (along with the center bearing) and I used one of my basic metric sockets. I don't have any special tools so if you have a regular socket set, you should be fine. I may have used a standard monkey wrench during the process. Not much to it. Getting the shaft out of the car and getting it back in was hard....you have to use a lot of brute power and a crowbar.... Good luck. Nic '85 300CD |
I believe it is 41mm wrench on the sleeve nut. I used a pair if big channel locks to loosen it. It is generally not that tight. You can also use a pipe wrench.

I hope that you mean 14mm. That would be an awful big nut.

It definitely is a big nut.
