Car not starting, fuel pumps work, it's not the relay? :( (560sel)

So after a ton of work on my precious Greta, she was running fine and suddenly won't start. Because I had CIS probs before, I immediately started checking in that area and everything was in order, except for the fuel pump not coming on. Jumped the contacts at the relay and nothing. Then I took a lead straight from the battery and used that instead and the pumps came right on. So this means that there is no power going to the relay, right? I've checked all the fuses I can, and will check them again, but what else could cause this? My manual is no help in tracking down the circuit. Thanks for any help, it's getting a bit tough bumming rides to work:(

Are you stating that you put a jumper across pins 7 & 8 on the Fuel Pump Relay socket and the Fuel Pumps did not operate?

the power for the relay comes from a little red wire attached to the battery. make sure the nuts AT THE BATTERY are tight and the wire's not broken. fixed a coupla no-starts that way. good luck, chuck.

Yeah, the relay is getting no power. I temporarily jumped it with a new lead from the battery. Thx for the suggestion though, I don't remember seeing a red wire like that but I'll have to check when I get home.
