Gross leak - purge system - help?

2001 E430 Sport
I've been having the CEL come on everyonce in a while. The codes are for a gross leak in the purge system

This started a while back, a few months. It was suggested to replace the gas cap. I did about 2 months ago. Problem went away until yesterday. Came over a hill, let off the gas, CEL came on. Same codes.

I do not believe it is a gas leak, The car is garaged and no gasoline smell. So I am figuring it is a vacuum leak in a line that is after some sort of purge valve or device.

The problem is, I know nothing about the purge system, where the components are, what they look like, etc. Does somebody have a diagram of where all the components and hoses are, with pictures, they can send me?

I would have your evap system checked out on a smoke machine. You could have a leaky evap hose or canister.

First suspect would be the Purge valve sticking open..they get crap in them from the canister and can be cleaned. Hold it in your hand a see if you can feel it cycle..It is like a rapid heartbeat [ 5htz]..
Do a serch on "Purge Valve"..lots of info.
