There is a leak of antifreeze eminating from a hose protruding through the floor pan. The hose is located, just behind/equal too, the rear of the transmission in the trans/drive shaft tunnel. The inside diameter of the hose is large enough to insert my finger, inside it is a coiled wire, probably designed to keep the pathway open. Because it is so far to the rear of the dash and the engine compartment, I am at a loss to understand where it came from and why would antifreeze be leaking from it. My only thought is that it must me some kind of drain line from the heater core but I don't even know where to find that under my dash. Any of you master mechanics have a clue? Any help to locate the origination of the hose would be appreciated, because thats where the leak is coming from. Thanks, Steve

MB Master Mechanics, Need your help please! There is a drain hose that empties under the vehicle about where the driveshaft and the rear of the trans comes together. This hose has a coiled spring inside of it to keep the fluid path open. Where does this hose originate? Might it come from the heater core? It is leaking anti-freeze. Sounds like it is the evaporator drain hose (to drain the air conditioning condensation out of the car). The drain would likely be in a position to also catch antifreeze leaking from a heater core. Just a guess.

How 'bout this for a wild guess? Is it possible that someone injected UV dye into the A/C system? Many of these dyes are green in color and could be mistaken for coolant, I guess That would explain the green stuff coming out of the evaporator drain hose. If it's actually coolant, the heater core, as previously posted is the most likely culprit.

Anyone know where the heater core is located? and, what is the best way to access this? Under the dash? Is it in the engine compartment?
I don't have any manuals with this car and the little I do know doesn't cover under dash stuff.

DO NOT TRY THIS JOB IF YOU'RE NOT A BENZ TECH

theres alot involved, special tools are needed, its easily an 8 hour job.

the entire dash pannel must be removed, the cooling system must be drained, its def not a DIY job, take it to the dealer or a mercedes shop.

Refrigerant oil or coolant leak from that drain hose means a leak in either the evaporator or heater core. Both are located under the dash. If you do this job, it might be best to replace the evaporator, also, and all vacuum motors while the dash is open. Some DIYers have done the job but it is VERY involved. Costs to have it done are high as it is very labor intensive.

I am savvy enough to try anything but I need a step by step schematic to do so. I don't have a manual, Alldata for this car is about worthless and the online CDs I've purchased for this car are about worthless. I have not found a workshop manual worth the price for this vehicle. If anyone has any links or suggestions to help me fix this heater core/removal, I am listening. I would really like to tackle this myself, but I need to know how to begin.
