intake cam position putting head back on
I am in the process of putting my e320 head back on and know that I have to retard the intake cam shaft timing thing when I put it back on. I just want to confirm that the direction I should turn it is counter clockwise.
Thanks, Jim Lee 1995 e320 |

Still not getting 30 egree thing
Sorry guys and gals but I just do not understand this 30 degree thing on reassembling my cam sprockets after a head replacement. I have been pointed to these pages from the manual but I still do not get how if I marked the chain to both sprockets and the 4mm guide pins line up where they are supposed to how could the timing be off? And more importantly what do I do to follow these steps in the manual?
Thanks to Arthur Dalton in pointing me to these two pages. http://mb.auto.pl/wis/w124/CD01/Engine/104/05-2240.pdf http://www.ps2cho.net/downloads/MB%2...04/05-2230.pdf I just do not get this: "Camshaft adjuster must be in 'retarded' position. Inlet camshaft rotated in opposite direction of rotation of engine. Inlet camshaft sprocket rotated in direction of rotation of engine as far as the stop!" Thanks, Jim Lee 1995 e320 |
