Hi guys,

Thank you all for your opinion.
The auction for the green has ended for $15,100.00. It ended up less than the black. I am thinking whether the seller is still going to sell the green car for $28,900. One more question: If you were to buy the green car what would have been the right price?.

Thanks.
Pras.

If I'm right I think the green car was in an accident. If it wasn't, I think that $28,900 is about right. I thought about looking at it, but I'm in CA.

My mistake. It says thet there is NO prior accident history.

Is anyone going to look at this car? I'm interested in it if someone could look at it for me. Seems like they put it on Ebay 1 more time.

Thanks,

Craig

I, too, noticed the un-even gap now.... interesting...

yhliem,

When did you take delivery of your 500Es?? So far, silver letters on my air box don't flake at all... fingers crossed...

...there are probably quite a few individuals whom would love to drive/own an E500/500E but just a fraction of that actually willing & able to take that leap...the specialty car market is a bit limited and not volume my any means

the black e500 has been touched with the personality of the PO....definitely to fit that taste, so getting the car back kosher (as those whom have mod'd their cars & have tried to sell them know) will attract a larger audience and command a base fair $ market value

...if the black drives well, and provides a relatively clean PPI- I'd offer $24K (even though it has low miles and looks relatively clean) and have an additional $5-$6k of my own stashed to get it back to stock and into tip-top shape....I'd think that a target of about $30k-$35k total expenditure would be very reasonable

hope this helps

After comparing all the pics, here is my thoughts.... skip the Green one!!! It must have been in an accident... it's very obvious when you compare left-rear wheel well to right-rear wheel well.

It looks like the left rear tire(whole suspension) is moved forward an inch or so.... the wheel well area (where the body panel and rear bumper meets) is significantly larger than the right side...

Couldn't that be just an effect of the reflection off the tires? The tires seem out of round even!

If you look at the paint (actually the image reflected on the paint) the body panels seem to be straight and true (no waves on the paint) which would most likely be the case had the car been on an accident which would cause the damage you suggest on the wheels/suspension.

andy, neither of our cars has the silver lettering on the airbox. however, according to the build plates, on of the cars was manufactured in early '93 and the other is a later '93. one car has the aluminum brembo calipers and the other has the cast iron calipers from the R107.

the bumper being mis-aligned could be a rsult of a number of things. it could even be the result of a minor accident which damaged only the bumper. (i have 1st hand experience with this) nevertheless, the bumper is quite easy to re-align.

I agree with rainmaker, it looks too straight. Look at the line between the lower panels and the rest of the car, it is just perfect, very even and level. The crunch zones in front and back of these cars are very difficult to straighten after they have been hit, they are very hard to get level.

Just my 2 cents.

Regards ED

You really shouldn't judge a car by its photo and certainly don't buy one on a photo alone....get out there and look at it!!! The Green one looks real clean and detailed. Could be cosmetically fine but beat. If the suspension is bent...point it out to the owner and use it to your advantage in negotiations if its the ride you seek. If not, at least you said you saw it and checked it out. I'd go with you to NY since I'm about 2 hrs away and have a 500E but I wouldn't go there FOR you. That's alot to ask from a stranger, unless you shell out a couple hundred beans for the trouble. What do you think?

Green '93 500E back on Ebay...

Did anyone ever drive this one? Any further opinions?

Looks like it still hasn't sold (and it's price is back up to $29,990). Don't know if that's very realistic in these times...

I'll be in the market for a 500E/E500 in a couple months, and I wonder with the current state of the economy, even better deals couldn't be had on high-performance, luxury automobiles. The toys are the first things to go when financial times get tough

I've been looking for the past several months and I don't see the prices coming down. Right now there are a few on Autotrader and they commanding the same prices they were 5/6 months ago, some higher than I've ever seen.

Because production numbers were so small, I think that the prices have bottomed. They might even start to go back up a bit.

This car looks straight. I think the effect you mention is an artifact of sun/shadow.
