Engine Continues to Run After Ignition Shutdown
My 84 300TD continues to run after I turn off the ignition.
My Haynes manual suggets the fuel system cut off solenoid is not working but does not show where the solenoid is located. Can anyone tell me where to find this soleniod and if this is the likely cause? The engine shutdowns normally using the throttle linkage. |

I would post this message in diesel discussion and do a serach as well. Most likely it is a vacuum leak or a bad shut off valve. I had mine go bad in my 1991 124.

Thanks
You were right. I must have knocked the vaccum line to the shut off valve loose as I was changing the oil filter. I reinserted the vaccum line and now the engine shuts down normally.

I am glad that I was able to help. In my car, the diaphram went bad amd it would not hold vacuum.
Good luck!! |
