1994 E320 Sedan Shift Interlock
 

No good deed goes unpunished! Just finished replacing the rear shocks on my e320 on Sunday. On monday, I began hearing a sound like something is loose in the center console at the shifter when in park and while depressing the brake pedal. I've looked over the forum for an idea of what it might be.

What I've found is problems with shifter not wanting to leave the 'Park' position, with the possible cause being a cable adjustment. If this is a precursor to that event, I'd sure like to nip it in the bud.

I havn't found any instructions on how to adjust that cable. I don't want to wait until I'm stranded somewhere without tools.

Sooo: Can anyone tell me if my car has a cable? If so, can anyone tell me how to adjust it?

Two cables: One runs from the ignition switch to the shifter, the other from the brake pedal to the shifter.

Check that the cables are secured on both ends first.
