Problem with Clutch on a 86 300E

Hi I have a 86 300E 5 speed. I am having a problem, when I press the clutch paddle it goes down and does come back up. It happened few days back and later in the afternoon it was ok and it worked fine for nearly 4 months. I did not use the car for while but Yesterday when I went to the car, I ran into same problem. Can anyone advise me what can I do to get it going so that I can drive it to a mechanic and what do u advise I need to get fixed, because when the paddle comes up and works, I have no problem changing gears and it works perfectly. And where can I buy the part if any which I need to replace. Thanks for the help

i've only worked on 1 mb with a clutch and that was a 126. manuals on a benz are pretty rare. but, based on my experience with bmws and hydraulic clutches, when the pedal sticks to the floor either it needs new master and slave cylinders-probably your case because of the age-or the new master has not been bled enough and still has air in it. bleed it and cross your fingers but i'm betting your cylinders are just tired. replace both, a new master will overpower an old slave in a matter of days, if not with the first push. good luck, chuck.

Thank you porkface for your reply..I will try to bleed it and see it works

I agree, it probably needs to be bled or the slave cylinder is failing. They are pretty cheap to replace.

That's a rare car! MB only sold like 600 of those in the USA! Take care of her :)
