W126 91 300SE ignition switch
 

In my 91 300SE, there's a hollow between the ignition switch and the bezel. I can fully insert the key all the way around. In my 81 300SD, there's a rubber 'curtain' filling this gap. Can folks with a later W126 describe the space between the ignition switch and the inner circumference of the bezel?

You are missing the rubber sleeve.

Is that a separate piece or part of the bezel or switch?

How does the bezel come off?

Its part of the black plastic bezel piece that mounts to the dash. I have one I need to replace cuz its missing the rubber, just like you, but I have not figured out if it is replaceable without removing the dash. Once the rubber seperates from the bezel, there is no putting it back on.
