Opinions
Hello everyone,
I haven't posted here for a while since I kinda got away from the Benzes for a while. But I'm looking to come back. I'm looking at a potential project car and would like some opinions. The car is a 94 E320 with 171K miles. An aquaintence of mine ownes a small dealership and is retiring so he's selling all of his cars. This one has been sitting on his back lot for almost 6 months. The car looks great inside and out, no rust, no dents, no tears and very clean inside. Here's the problem. The car starts easily and idles smooth. But it will not run over 20 mph! I drove it around the block and as long as it stays below 20 it runs great. If you try to accelerate further it bogs down and will not go. As soon as you let off the gas it smooths out again. The car doesn't smoke and there are no strange noises. Everything in the car works, a/c is ice cold. He bought the car at auction knowing it had this problem but he never bothered to get it looked at. He says I can have the car for 1000 dollars if I take it as is. What do you guys think could be the cause of this low speed problem and would you buy it for 1000 dollars??
