190 2.3 16 Exhuast Manifold Cracked.. Options?

Have a friend with a 190 2.3 16 that has a cracked exhuast manifold.
What is the success rate at welding or where can you find a replacement or headers?

I think this was a known issue with early 2.3s and later ones had strengthening added - might be worth looking into this.
They come up on ebay occasionally in Germany.

I would try to weld it, what have you got to lose? If it does not work then look for a different one.(junkyard)
