shuddering problem 1993 300e
I have a 93 300e 3.2 liter mercedes and it has a shuddering problem when going slowly and giving acceleration but whne im going around 50 or 60 and give it quite a bit of throttle it will kick down in gear and take your head back. Getting outta the drive way it will shudder really bad. it will drive extremely smooth when not given hard throttle, it will drive fine and go through the gears great. what do you guys think my problem is? and when revved to 4000 and stayed there it shudders and shakes pretty bad. but given regular throttle at idle and not held, it revs fine. i dont know what this is... its driving me crazy all the differnt things it may be.

Sounds like a slight misfire, most likely a coil or spark plug wire.
|
well we changed the spark plug wires so you think it may be coils??
|
<and when revved to 4000 and stayed there it shudders and shakes pretty bad.>
In N or P ????????????? |
in park
never done it in neutral but im pretty sure it does the same. ill try tomorrow. |
Normal..that chassis has a 4K limit in P or N for torque converter protection.
|
oh ok then. i thought so. so what do you think the shuddering and misfiring mean?? fuel pressure problem? some electrical problem? the wires look to be fine.
|
Sure it's not the engine mounts?
|
Go into pin 8 and get the codes ..
Did you change the connectors under each coil? |
what it was, was the variable cam adjuster solenoid. i unplugged it and it ran so much better, no more misfire and no more popping. im going to get another one from somewere really dont know where to get one new so im goin to the junkyard.

Make sure you do not have the sol connector and the blu temp sensor mixed up.
The cam advance does not have a signal at low rpms, unplugging it would only not get you no advance . |
idk what the sol connector is. the blue temp sensor, what??
can you explain? |
Just do this test:
On the thermo housing, there is a blu/2 wire sensor. Turn key On and unplug that sesnor...do the aux fans come on w/test ?? |
alright ill check that out next time.
ill let you know. |
