wow, this came back from the dead! i actually have another issue im tackling right now that i put in another thread.

the car doesnt make any more power past 1/3 or so throttle. but ive gotten it to work great otherwise. so far ive tried to band-aid everything as cheap as possible to see if its worth keeping and fixing right. its been my daily beater for half a year, never let me down.

i did detailing, oil, plugs, fuel filter, throttle-trans cable adjust, rear end fluid to one grade thicker, stuck a $0.20 "anti rattle" o-ring on the tensioner-shock bolt, "lost" the cat, and used some cheapo exhuast-patch junk to hold/patch it together. now its quiet, almost no rattle, runs better, but still not perfect. if i dont floor it, you cant tell anythings amiss. the rear end still makes some sound, but it hasn't gotten worse, and only during the cold shifts is there any noise form it while driving.

oh, and brakes have new rotors, pads, and fluid, but i dont mess around with that.

now im ready to do this car right. i want to finally chase down this 'no more power' issue. so far on the to-do list:

-check/remove egr
-check/remove smog pump
-check/fix pcv
-weld-up a nice, new exhaust
-check/replace fuel pump(s)
-replace rear end

so timing chain stuff should be done? wheres the best place to buy that it? and does it all really need to be replaced?
