zero clearance head?
The timing chain on my 1976 (4 cylinder) 230 stretched to the point of getting jammed. I don't have a manual, and I was wondering if anyone knew whether it had a zero clearance head (and that I am very likely looking at bent valves) or if just replacing the timing chain and tensioner will be enough?

ALL MB's will bend valves IF the timing chain is off by several teeth.

I had several timing chains jump and didn't bend the valves. The cam towers broke which saved the valves. I always thought the cam towers were designed to break to protect the valves because the castings are so thin at the bottom. This was on a 190D engine but others may be different. ~~~~~~~~~PEH~~~~~~~
