Window off track
Hello out there,
can anyone out there give me a step by step to put my drivers side rear window back on track? I can hear the motor winding but the window has begun to slip down into the door. 1990 420 SEL Thanks |

Sounds like the plastic sliding jaw in your window regulator has broken. Easy fix. Search for "sliding jaw" in the threads.

Yeah, that's probably the problem. I did a write-up on doing the rears here a while ago.
Resist the temptation to use the window at all until you fix it. Once the sliding jaw breaks away, the steel stud on the window arm will tend to damage the aluminum track rather badly. Make sure you read one of the write-ups, and pay very close attention to the part where you peen the new jaw into place. You WILL break the jaw if you don't support the post from underneath.
