Cold start becaume difficult after refurbishment of ECU connector
 
Hello every one. may be my question is silly.

The car is a W124 260E euro 1988.

After a complete refurbishment of all ECU connector contacts, I have no more Cold start as usual. The car starts after several attempts with with very low RPMs around 300.

Then it improves with temperature until +/- 700.

TF Signal on Fuel pump relay is as expected ( 2-3V at cold and 0.3V when hot).

Any ideas where/how I can identify the probleme?

I don't have the answer, but I am curious what this means. How did you refurbish the contacts? Why?

Three possibilities:

1) You accidentally got something wrong when redoing the connector
2) You fixed something that is now highlighting another problem
3) The two things are unrelated

How did you "refurbish" the connector? Just clean the contacts, or did you open it up and pull the wires out? If so, could two have gotten swapped by mistake?

I too am curious as to exactly what you did..... What problem were you having that prompted you to do that?

Just a thought - seems like temperature sensor issues. Or, perhaps the wire from the ECU to the temp sensor.....

why did you have to refurbush to the pcm connector?? Unless you are rough with it and break some connectors theres is no reason to refurbish it.

YES I agree all could be an explaination

I wanted to refurbish because some contact appeared to be either a bit lose or corroded and could induce some erratic stalling while driving.

Wire including connector on temp sensor from temperature sensor to ECU has been changed and is new.

Refurbishement where done wire by wire with labels on each wire.
In two steps first bank from 1 to 13 ( cold start still Ok) then second bank 14 to 25 (and lost cold start).
Using new contact wich seem to provide a stronger contact here is a picture. on the left side new contacts, in the middle the old ones, on the left side the complete connector

So has you say I may have fixed something which higlighted another problem. But I have no clue on how to solve.

Idle is very strong and stable, the only remaining issue is the cold start.


Unfortunately could not find a good pin allocation drawing valid for my car, which is EUROPEAN and has NO catalysator (21 wires go to the ECU). found a lot with 18, 19 or 22 Wires.

I would appreciate a lot if some body could post a such a drawing

After the engine is at operating temperature, is there any change in idle if you pull the connector off of the Idle Control Valve?
I found my idle problem by ohming out the wires from the CIS Control Unit to the various components. My idle control valve was doing nothing after the engine started. It only operated for 10 seconds when the ignition was turn on.

It turned out that I had inadvertently reversed the airflow sensor connector with the throttle switch connector when I replaced the head gasket. The connectors are identical and next to each other. After correcting the problem the cold start/warm-up idle is perfect.

I hope you can find the correct schematic for your model so you can verify each wire.

Have you seen this schematic.
