Why is it you want a Mercedes chassis, then?

Mercedes engines are awesome. I'd never want some Toyota job under my hood. Yuck.
You probably won't find much help here on that topic.

Sounds stupid
I know, I know, that is kind of blunt, but it really sounds stupid to me. What part of an engine is cheaper in a meaningful way on a Toyota. Now don't quote me pistons, or a cam or crank. Most people will never replace them, and MB quality costs money. Belts, plugs, waterpump, voltage regulator, VC gaskets, battery, fuses, radiator cap are all about the same. Maybe you are worried about the cost of Mercedes Benz Antifreeze. Hey, then just don't tell any of us and just use the green stuff.

I went from a 4cylinder gas toyota to a 6 cylinder gas mercedes, they are worlds apart in power, refinement, smoothness......the toyota is quite primitive in comparison.

Some Toyota engines might be acceptable. A DOHC with a turbo?? They can be smooth and quiet, plus I've heard that getting 500 HP out of a Toyota straight six is possible. This will be a LOT of work to perform. It most definitely won't be a bolt-in swap. You'll need to fabricate all the mounting hardware for the engine and tranny, make a custom drive shaft, customize the fuel delivery system, then there's the fun of removing all the MB engine wiring and putting the Toyota wiring into the Benz. I'm the one putting a Z06 LS6 engine into my 560SEC and it, as I've stated, is a LOT of work. :-)

It would probably be easier to locate a used M103 + manual and bolt all that in than it would be to convert to a toyota setup. Not to mention most toyotas are front wheel drive engine/trans setups....so that narrows the engine possibilities down to units from SUV's or trucks....perhaps not even that.
