oil
I've read through all the old posts about synthetic oils. For the most part people seem to like them. It's about time for an oil change and I was wondering what weight should I use? I live in seattle. If a leak did spring up, could I go back to the old oil and get rid of the leak? Is it possible to do any damage switching the oils like this? I have a 1990 300te with 118,000 miles. Thanks for you help

Mobil One 15W50; great oil, and seemingly the least prone of the synthetics to develop or increase leaks.
Good luck, and enjoy your wagon!!

I asked my mechanic the same question when I was pondering the conversion and he replied that if I switched back to dino oil right away, the leaking caused by the synthetic oil *should* stop.
When I switched from dino to synthetic in my '89 300E last year, I had no leaks. My brother has a '77 280E and he recently switched as well, with no problems. From what I have heard it is basically a gamble, although the odds seem to be on your side. Good luck!
