doing away with stock mufflers
My exhaust is shot. The rear muffler has a hole rusted in it and stuff rattling around in there. I have it removed for now. The center muffler is also shot. I do not want to spend lots of money on stock exhaust because it just does not really seem worth it. I was thinking of eliminating the center muffler all together. I was also thinking about putting a quiet magnaflow on the rear. I dont mind a little growl to the exhaust and it will be far more economical to do this. Is this something I should not skimp on or should I be ok? Thanks

Go to a salvage yard, TX is full of rust free cars. We had a 380sel and a few 420s there with perfect exhausts. $50 or so for the entire catback.
Cheaper than the Magnaflow + installation will cost. |
I am going to check it out this weekend. If I cannot find a good exhaust, I am going to magnaflow it. It keeps coming down and 10 stranded will only hold it so long.

Just ask around, I'm sure someone would sell you a rear muff cheap on here.
I have one from an I6 car, but I think the rear is diff on them versus the V8 cars. You can skip the center sections as they're resonators if you're okay with more sound. Basically the Magnaflow is going to look stupid once installed due to stock design, to me anyway. |
