right auxilliary fan not working 1993 300E

My right auxilliary fan does not come on the left one does.. I noticed this this the other day when I was checking out why my ambiient air temp gauge said it was 115 degrees!! It was only 85 out. I had the A/C on and only 1 fan was in could there be any connection? do both fans always come on at the same time

Give the other one a hand spin in direction of arrow on hub to see if it is bound or starts with the spin..if NO , then give the hub a rap with a rubber hammer..
Post results

They are wired for unison operation

I tried tat nothing happened id there a fuse or anything else that I can check. It spins easy

<there a fuse or anything else that I can check>

Yeah, there is a fuse, but like i said, they are wired in parallel, so if the fuse was bad , the other would not work either..

You have a bad connection at the feed plug to that fan or a bad fan motor.

Might be able to get it to kick if you give it the full 12v from High speed circuit.

Start engine [ no a/c] and pull the connector off the 2 wire blu sensor at the thermo housing area...does that give you High fan and on Both ???

Thank you for the help.. two more questions where are the feed plugs located for the fan and could this have any possible connection to the
ambient tempature reading the wrong temp.. they both seem to stop working at the same time

Arthur Dalton 05-24-2009 08:05 PM

Behind the Fans and possibly if you were at a standstill and car was running hot.

Turn the car off and after it cools down , see what you read for Ambient.

mford75281 05-24-2009 08:34 PM

thank you that did it!!! you just saved me a trp to the MB dealership!!
So for my next question the temp gauge what should or can I do with that ?

mford75281 05-24-2009 08:36 PM

the car was cold and still reading +110

Put a thermometer next the the front plate and compare them

if it's bad, it's bad.
