I don't know what you can do now that the new glass has already been put in. There are many reasons why you should only go with OEM Mercedes Glass.
But most importantly... your windshield is part of your car's structural integrity... I would be sure it is Mercedes glass!

Do a search and you should come up with a fair amount of info, and then you can more accurately decide how to handle your situation.
Good luck.

The after market replacement is fine, all glass manufactory should be DOT approved.

Unless it is purchase at the dealer (which is a lot more, and the insurance company is not going to pay), you would not see the MB star. I have the driver door window replaced by a local glass company, the stamp was PPG.

Lots of divergent opinions about replacement glass out there! I had mine replaced with PPG since 1) it was $297 instead of $750 and 2) the technician who installed it said he visited the PPG plant and saw domestic MB windshields being produced alongside non-MB windshields, and the only differences were lack of the star and a slightly different tint color at the top of the glass.

Mine seems just fine.

P.S. I have been advised to avoid "Safelight" glass. I haven't heard of "Safe Vue."

If it will make you feel better, you can buy one of those paper Daimler Benz stickers, that is normally on a windshield, on ebay for a dollar or two. I saw a message somewhere that stated you could also call MBZ in NJ and they would send you one free if you asked for it.

The MB glass, at least in all the Benzes I have seen, are made bya company called Seikurt (if I spelled it correctly). My Passat has glass made by the same company as do BMWs. So if you want OEM, it doesn't necessarily need to have the star on it, just look or ask for Seikurt. My car's windshield is original and it needs to be replaced due to all the pits and wiper scratches. I was shopping around for a new one, but I was sent out of the country (U.S. Air Force), which is where I currently am. When ever I do get home I will continue my search.
