I think I fried something...

Hi All,

I'm new to this forum but have been a member of benzworld.org for a while. I have a problem with my 1992 230E which no one could help me with there...

The link to that thread is here http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w124-e-ce-d-td-class/1443046-i-think-i-fried-something.html

I am hoping someone here can help me...please!

Thanks,
Jase

Pin # 1 of the diagnostic plug is connected to the RPM output of the EZL.

Could have damaged that signal that goes to the fuel pump relay.

You could see if by jumping that fuel pump relay the engine would stay running.

Thanks for the fast reply!!

Ok, what is the EZL? At the moment I do have to jump my fuel pump relay to get the car running.

What would the fix be?

Thanks,
Jase

when you jump the fp relay to keep running does the tachometer work? if so it's the relay that needs replacing not the ezl and of course the opposite is also true.

The rev counter does not work and nor does the kickdown. So I'm assuming its the EZL then? That sounds like it could be expensive.

Where is the EZL located and how would I verify the it's not working? Also is there a known way to repair it. I work at an electronics company so I could get a guy here to change a component or two if we had the schematics.

Thanks for all the replies guys! You've been great!

Jase

The EZL is the ignition module.

You either shorted the output signal from the EZL or damaged the fuel pump relay.
