Ignition Switch Starting Engagement
Recently purchased a near perfect 1985 280TE. To start the car starter engages at approx. 90% of full CW rotation of ignition key. Typically expect starter to engage at full 100 % CW rotation of ignition. Not sure if this is a possible failure warning & if I should replace the Ignition Barrel? Or should I not be concerned? Key an ignition engage smoothly & car starts instantly when rotated the correct amount. If you quickly rotate key 100% it won't start

Most likely cause is the electrical portion of the ignition switch. 202-545-01-04 MB list is $37.
