Daimler Benz sticker
I've noticed than my '89 300CE does not have one of those "official" product stickers on the front windshield. Did only certain cars come with them? I see them on the newer cars but I don't often see them on the older ones. I suppose people take them off or their windshield has been replaced? I do have the blue VPC sticker on the drivers side corner, which means it is probably the original windshield. Did the Canadian market cars not come with the stickers when delivered? For the 1989 model year what should the sticker read? Is it a Daimler Benz product or Mercedes-Benz product?

They all have them from the factory. I don't know if you can get the older sticker anymore. When I had my windshield replaced I went to the dealer and got a new sticker for $2. :D It says "A Daimler Benz Product" I think the old one said Mercedes....oh well. The new new stickers on the 2008/2009 cars are the coolest, they are clear except for the wording which is in black. I might upgrade to one of those. :D :D (I'm obsessive)

you should be able to buy one from your local dealer for just a few dollars. it just means the window was replaced by a vender other than the dealer in most cases i believe

I have one of those on my 1990 300TE...are you sure it's a real Mercedes? I've been hearing about these 'knock offs' or something lately...

although I must say...glass is glass....I have had 3 German car windshields replaced in my day, a 1976 2002, 1986 635CSi and a 1988 325iC...all were, and I insisted, PPG products...they all worked beyond satisfaction. PPG is out the box my people. Insist upon PPG if you can....that goes for paint too....

I've had to replace the windshield on my '89 300CE twice. First time, I told the repair guy that he could only do the job if he put the correct white sticker in the corner. The white stickers, pre Daimler-Chrysler said "A Daimler Benz Product". After the merger, the stickers were changed to say, "A Mercedes-Benz Product". He put the correct sticker on, (Daimler Benz).
Last month I had to have the windshield replaced again, and this time, they put the clear sticker on. That thing is ugly! Unless you are looking right at it from up close, it is invisible. I've seen several auctions on ebay in the past couple weeks for the white Daimler Benz stickers, but the vendor wants ten bucks each. Luckily, I purchased a few about fifteen years ago and still have one left. Not sure if I want to put it on because when I pick up another rock and have to replace the windshield yet again, I won't have any more stickers left. I'm thinkng about how I can configure the sticker to be reusable, if need be. |

Our '06 E-class had the "Mercedes" script sticker (now replaced with older style since 2nd windshield) and the '07 GL has an all white sticker with nothing but a Gottleib Daimler autograph. |

The older ones going back to at least the '70s from my '99 said; "A Daimler-Benz product." The next generation in the 2000s said; "It's a Mercedes" -really cheesy -- like, duh! |
I'll have to check my sticker, I am confused now. :D
