A/C Error Code Question

I have a 1999 E 320 The A/C stopped working and the error code I am getting is Eb1419 which I know is the Compressor Electromagnetic Clutch. My EC light was stuck on and I overrode when the A/C first failed but that did not fix the problem or remove the error code. Does this code mean the compressor is gone? Or could it be a faulty sensor that is preventing the compressor from working?

Thanks

First check the wire going to the compressor and ensure that it is not damaged. Failed motor mounts can damage the wire, and the unit can't tell the difference between a blown clutch coil fuse and a failed wire or connection.

Also disconnect the wire at the compressor and check continuity to ground. You should have very low resistance. If you have an open circuit, see if the compressor turns with no noise or odd feeling.
