Trunk Not Opening 1997 S320

Hi guys, my 1997 S-320 has developed an issue where the trunk will not open, only when I repeatedly manually push the trunk button in while turning the key will it open. When sitting in the car and pushing the button on the dash to open the trunk I hear something like a little motor and a click, but no opening of the trunk.

I'm thinking there might be something mechanically wrong, perhapes the latch is out of whack or something. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Any ideas ? LOL This a very annoying problem. I did a search on here and didn't find anything exactly on point. The vacum assist appears to be working because when I do get the trunk open and close it, the trunk lid appears to "suck" down.

Trunk release issue 2002 S500 (AMG?) Sport, 15k miles (yes, seriously)

I have the same problem. With the little mini key in the remotes I can open the trunk manually just fine. But neither the remote actuator nor the interior button will open the trunk. It makes the clunk sound like it is opening the trunk, granted, however the trunk stays closed. BTW it does suck down and close/lock normally. I don't get it. I messed with it for a while, and it worked again a couple times, but then nothing again. Frustrating. I really don't wanna spend a grand to save myself from manually opening the dang trunk, but.....

If you find a solution, please let me know. Thanks.
