Transmission Mount

Is it difficult to change a transmission mount on a C280? What's the procedure? Thanks.

Does a shudder that occurs under middle-load acceleration through 1600-2200 rpm indicative of a transmission mount? It only occurs at that range of rpm and usually in the gear where 35-40 mph matches those rpms. Thanks. Possibly other problems, i.e., drive shaft or center support bearing? Front "flex disk" was changed and the shudder seemed to appear not long after. At the time, mechanic said rear flex disk was fine and there was only a slight sagging of the support bearing not neccesitating a change.

Very easy job.
Support the transmissions, unbolt the support from the cross-brace ( 4 bolts ), unbolt the mount, install new mount.
One of the simplest jobs there is.

It might only be a slight sagging, but it would put the rest of the car including the engine out of line.

Thanks, guys.

Both transmission and engine mount were last changed at 32,000, 7 years ago. Early, yes, but dealer changed it under warranty. I believed they decided to use their "goodwill budget" from Mercedes on my car. Car is now at 101,000. I know I may get some "funny" answers....but is it safe to say, new engine mounts and transmission mounts would not be out of the question? That is to say, will I get some, "Wow, they lasted that long?! What do you expect, buddy?" or "That's ok, they can last that long or longer". Thanks in advance for your input.

P.S. Again, from your infinite wisdom and/or experience (that's where I get my know-how ), what about the center support, i.e., generally accepted life based on mileage or time? Is there only that $11-15 dollar part to change? Is a support bridge different?

Yeah, if one is shot, the others can't be far behind. Might as well replace the motor mounts at the same time. It's much easier on a lift with a jack under the oil pan (for the motor mounts) and under the tranny for that mount.

On my 400E and my buddies 500SL the mount is right below the flex disc how do you get that top nut off? and what size is it? We couldnt get a wrench in there to save our life all too thick.
