power window relay really warm
 

The power window relay on the 190E 2.6 is reallly warm. Just for a comparison I looked up the wiring diagram for both the 190E 2.6 and the 300SDL and they have same setup for the power seats except the SDL has seats memory. The power seats relay on the SDL is not warm at all and according to both wiring diagrams its hot at all times. I know something is wrong with the power seats on the 190E but not quite sure what could be causing the relay to be really warm on the 190E and cool to the touch on the SDL. Any ideas?

So,Something is On/Activated,or acting that way Electrically.

after some poking around I checked the diode for the power seats and it had an open in it. Picked up a pack of diodes from radio shack for 99cents for it, solder it in and I hope that fixes it.

The power seat switches for both cars without the key to adjust the seat so the switch cant be bad.

Been awhile but thought I would update the situation. I have narrowed the problem down to this. I can adjust the seat with the door open which is normal but I can adjust the seat with the door closed without the key which isnot normal. according to the wiring diagram the only way to adjust seat with the door shut is with the key in a accy, run or start postion. replaced the door jam switch and no more drain

On the 1991 300CE, should the windows and sunroof work with a door open like the seats do? I hear a clicking sound under the rear seat where the window module is located when I push in and release the door jamb switch, but I have no window operation with a door open. Windows work okay otherwise except my driver's window will not go all the way down in auto mode. It will stop in one of two postions.

What is the mechanism that controls window position in auto mode or tells the module to stop the window? Is it in the module or is there something in the door or window track that tells the module the position of the window? Also, what is the interchangability of convience (window) modules from model/year. I have seen other part numbers on ebay that appear to have the same connectors.
