anyone put a 2-speed fan on an early W124?

Has anyone tried putting a later style R-134a two speed fan system on an earlier R-12 car? Any details- anyone tried the later condensor core?

For a two speed and one speed fan they drain almost the same current, why bother? unless you hate noise!

The W124 fan should already run at two speeds...

The fan on the W124 is a single speed fan that runs at two speeds...

When the air conditioning is on and the pressure switch on the receiver-drier gets to a certain pressure, the fan runs at slow speed because of a resistor placed behind the left headlight.

When the temp sensor on the block gets to a certain temp (fairly hot) the fan will begin to run at the higher speed.

Because I don't like a hot running diesel, I have bypassed the resistor and the fan always runs at the faster speed....

The resistor is something you may want to check during the summer season, because if your resistor is bad, the engine gets hot fast when in city traffic.
