Smile 1999 E320 Stalls

We have a 1999 E320 that stalls, mostly when cold. However,it has also stalled after approximately 15 miles of driving at highway speeds. We have had it in the shop a few times but can't get a code on it so it keeps on stalling. It has done this at red lights and while driving/turning which is dangerous not to mention frustrating. Also, when it sits for awhile, especially overnight you have to remove the key and re-insert it before cranking. Is this normal?? Btw, it took me awhile to find you since you changed the name of the forum---whew!!!!!!! Thanks for any help!!
