Thought my 1989 300E smelled a bit "rich" from the exhaust! I happened to look under the car and saw gasoline rapidly dripping forming a nice puddle on the floor from an area just inside and in front of the rear passenger wheel! The leak stopped after turning off the car! Looks like it is coming from the fuel pump/filter area? I think this might be a repair I would like a mechanic to do....No wonder my gas mileage has been suffering lately! This may have been going on for a few days already!

The amount of rubber hose under there is pretty small. With some hose clamps and hose you could fix it pretty easy. I would recomend that all the hoses get changed as I would assume they are all pretty bad..

Any shop can fix this this.

It's a DIY job, especially if you have a fuel line clamp pliers (smooth jaw, meant to close off fuel lines).

Got under the car and found it was a speciality hose coming out of the rear of the fuel filter that was leaking! It has a special metal fitting connected to the fuel filter and it wraps itself around the pump assembly on its way to.......I guess the engine. It was old and cracked! Good time to replace the fuel filter and hose! Sound like a DYI but do I want the hassle? If I don't DIY, I will have to get the car towed (leaks pretty good) to a mechanic and then the cost of the repair.

MB clamp is what you are seeing most likely. Use dykes and cut it off.

If you dont want the hassel look on craigslist... serious there are guys that will come to your house and change it under $50. Might as well pick up a filter and have it changed too.

The entire hose needs to be replaced. After doing a little research I will DIY! Got the hose and filter online for about $40. Guess I am getting a little lazy in my old age! LOL!
