NAV system issue - help please
I have the NAV system in a 2001 S500. No street-level names are displayed. Is this normal? I have seen BMW and Lexus Nav systems -- and my understanding is they are all based on the same Navtech databases -- and they provide street names on the map display. Is this a glitch in my system or has MB decided not to provide street names? (obviously they are in the system or otherwise you wouldn't be able to input a street address). Thanks.

In smaller "metro" areas the NAV maps are incomplete, WHERE are you? I think all nav systems use the same CD's

I am not in a smaller metro area but in New York. We are under some commuting restrictions (2 in a car on many bridges and tunnels) and finding alternate routes off the main highways (in Queens, for example) is one of the current challenges. There is a huge difference between what is displayed on my system and the Lexus. The L shows just about every street name on the map, while my MB shows names for only the Interstates and numbered state highways.

I've driven M-class & S-class cars(w/nav system) for days & almost every street around Atlanta is clearly defined.
