MB Doc, E320 Crank Position Sensor

Doc, the past week or so I have been asking a lot of questions regarding why our 1999 E320 shuts off both when cold and after being driven at highway speeds. You ,along with others have led me to beleive the cps is the problem.I have also consulted our nearby German car repair service(who has done our repair work, and been very good at it so far) and they advised me to take it to a MB dealer. Shouldn't the computer recognize this new part and the two get in synch pretty quickly?? I wonder why they would have suggested going to a dealership.
