722 tranns problem

Okay....So.. here is the problem. my trans lost fourth gear so I remove the trans and rebuild it. In K2 my clutches were bad. So I replace all my clutches in the trans just because there cheap enough and well I'm there why not. I just reassembled my trans and it all went together fine but when now when I turn the trans by hand its hard to turn but it turns fine but just with some Resistance. which makes seance new clutches and seals where added. when I add a little fluid it turns much smother... So the real question is..IS THAT NORMAL?????? I miss my car and I want to drive it again and this little issue worries me alot. so if anyone knows something about this would they please share.

THANKS JAKE

I'd imagine it would be noticeably harder to turn dry than if its all lubed by trans fluid....probably normal. Put 'er in and see how it runs!

Soaking the friction disks....

I didn't think you mentioned this in your post, but I believe the friction disks should be soaked in transmission fluid for at least one-half hour before installing them.

I would agree that there may some increased resistance when turning, but I'm no professional..

Just a thought..good luck!

The clutches do need to be soaked in trans oil for at least an hour. This is true for any trans.

OKAY, well it is in the car. and I have reverse, 1st, 2nd and third. I don't have 4th!!!! problem. well what are some possibilities for the reason why I don't have fourth. I know my governor has a part to do with the up shift.

Here is how it drives... I start out in 1st shifts great up to third. Dose not even try to hit 4th. just stays in third.

If anyone knows anything or has an idea please share. I'm open to all ideas.

Thanks

Shifter connected/adjusted properly? If the shifter is in the "S"/"3" mode it will not even attempt 4th gear....only 1-3 Make sure its actually in the "D" position.
