Fuel line leak

I have a pinhole leak in my metal fuel line (line going from fuel tank to engine). Pinhole is located near rear wheel. How can i fix it without spending $1110, Quote from dealer are parts $480 and labour $630 to replace 2 lines -supply and return. My car is 1987 300SDL.

Thanks Derick

If I had to do a temporay fix I guess I could cut a small section out and replace it with hose and clamps.

I think they sell repair kits at auto parts stores too. All these are temporay fixes though.

Not sure what pressures you car has though so it might not work.

The diesels have little to no pressure. Either do a hose+clamps fix, or replace the line yourself....we did on one of our SD's for abour $40 of parts.

A 25 foot roll of 5/16 fuel line is about twenty dollars. Enough usually to do the return and supply line. Another twenty will do the rear brake line if you find it corroded as well. Tubing bender is about ten dollars.

metal fuel line? try this...swear to god it works... relieve the pressure as best you can, remove the gas cap, whatever.. get a little gasoline and some clean rags and clean the hole as best you can. Then...get this stuff called JB-Weld and follow the instructions on the carton....this stuff works, no question...it'll absolutely seal the leak if applied properly. My wife hit a power company spool that fell off a truck in her BMW and it split the oil pan...I didn't even drain the oil, just cleaned it (the crack) up really well and put this JB-Weld on it, that was 4 years and 40K miles ago...hasn't leaked a drop since...just follow the instuctions...plus it's only like $10 out the door...good luck...cliff
