Has anyone heard of taking a US A/C system and putting on a Benz?
Even perfect, not so cool in S Fla.
Any feedback welcomed

I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. Do you have a Benz without a/c? Are you wanting to change the a/c system?

Unless you have a Euro car, the A/C system in you W124 Benz, for all practical purposes IS a US system. The components are US designed and made.

I live in the second hottest place in the US, Palm Springs, CA. My 93 and 95 Benze's have adequate, not spectacular, AC systems. I make sure they are charged properly, the condensers are clean and the system works as designed. Up to 105F, they are adequate. From 105 to 117F they start to struggle. On the other hand, I have not been in any one else's car at these temps, so I have no comparison. But then one would have to compare another car of the same age, not a new one.

I don't remember ever seeing 117, but I have seen 108 in my 124 car and it did a pretty good job. Do you do short hops? If so, then most any cars a/c will struggle in such an ambient temp.

If you're ready to lay down some serious cash and effort, the one thing that you could do to improve performance would be to adapt a parallel flow condensor. Also, you did not indicate that these are converted systems, but if they are, you need to go back to R12 for your situation.

Thanks guys. I've had 4 MB's in the past few years, and even redoing complete AC system, my wife's Protege will freez you out and the Benz is just ok.
A friend said he heard of a conversion from a US model car, since historically, they have been colder than a star.

You still don't indicate your driving usage, but it sounds as if you drive mostly in town. Any MB with a properly functioning a/c can make a Polar Bear scream for mercy on the highway.

The component in any a/c that largely determines that systems cooling capacity is the condensor. That is why I recommended a parallel flow condensor. There is no room to fit a LARGER condensor, but the Parallel Flow is a more efficient condensor TYPE.

A simple mod that helps in town driving [ but not as good as a condenser up-grade] is to up the Low Aux cond. fan to High speed. Increasing condenser air-flow at high ambients helps without much cost factor. [< $20]
Firsts , make sure your low aux is coming On w/a/c.
