1990 190e Climate Control Unit Removal

Hi Everyone:

What is the best way to remove the Climate Control Unit from the center console? I have done the following...

(1) removed the screws at the bottom of the wood console.
(2) removed the center vents.
(3) removed the screws on the bottom of the center vents. I'm assuming that these screws are holding the wood console in place as well.

When I tried to remove the wood console it gets stuck where the top wood console and the lower center vents meet. I do not want to force anything just because I will break the wood console. I thought I can just pull this out....Am i missing anything here?

Cheers,
Clive

With a liitle bit more persuasion, I was able to pull it out. They are two clips on each side of the wood that were holding it on the console. Then, you will see two circular metal tabs on each side of the Climate Control Unit. You will need to place a pen on each hole, lift it up, then pull out each side. All done.

I noticed that someone tried to pull the wood grain before and placed a dent on the top part with a screwdriver. Next time I go to the boneyard, I will be getting a replacement one for sure.

Cheers,
Clive
