Installing front cover, m104

I was reading here on the forum, one of the members recommends installing the front timing cover first, and then installing the chain guide pin....since i will be doing this in a day or so, i wanted to see your feedback on this. It will make sealing and properly installing the front cover much easier, and i don't think the guide pin is as critical at the moment since the chain tension is holding the guide in place....

opinions please, what do you guys think?

pull the pin so you get a good seat on the gasket. It's fairly easy using the nut and stack of washers method.

I already have it off along with the head as i am doing a head gasket ...

so the cover first then the pin is an OK method?

Yes, put the cover on with a few bolts loosely so you can line up the pin. On the gasket, don't be too skimpy with sealant, especially in the corner areas - you don't want to do this job again.
